Create your own lamp using the ancient craft of wet felting.

Suitable for anyone willing to apply a bit of elbow grease to make their own fabric, let Louise guide you through the process of making your shade fabric out of wool, silk and other exotic fibres using your own imagination to decorate your shade. Your felts will dry overnight and you will make up your shades and finish building the lamp in the morning of day 2.

Your finished lamp shade will measure approx 5-6 inches in diameter and 35 cm tall.

Don’t miss this opportunity to attend this course debut!

Please note there is a £25 material charge payable on the day.

**Also note this is a one and a half day course. Day one will be 10am-4pm, Day two will be 10am-12.30pm. Lunch is only provided on day one**

What to expect

Time at ArtisOn is designed to take you away from it all. We provide the environment, space and guidance you need to create. You can expect a warm welcome, skilled and friendly tutors plus the chance to meet like-minded people keen to share ideas. You can even leave us to clear up the mess! There will usually be two workshops going on and we encourage everyone to mingle and be nosey about what the other workshop is up to.

On Day one of your course we encourage you to arrive at 9.30am. This will allow time to meet other participants over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits before beginning your workshop at 10am. There will be a mid-morning break for refreshments and a chance to talk over progress with others. Lunch is usually around 12:45 for about 45 mins – you can expect a delicious homemade 2 course lunch. There will be a further afternoon break with tea or coffee and cake. All food and refreshments are included in the price of your workshop.

On Day two arrive at 9.30 am for tea, coffee and biscuits before starting at 10am. You’ll spend the morning finishing off your project and will have made a complete lampshade before the workshop ends at 12.30pm.

We aim for your course to be a real treat. You could always learn a new skill in a shed or a draughty village hall with a curly sandwich, but we want you to have more fun than that! So we make sure you will be looked after, with good food, good company and great inspiration!

What you’ll need to bring with you

Please bring a hand towel. You may also wish to wear a waterproof apron whilst making the felt.

“Louise was amazing. She is a natural teacher and so passionate about her craft!”
