Join Louise and learn about this fascinating craft. This is the perfect introduction, spread over 3 consecutive weeks, where you will have the chance to experience the process of wet felting and learn how to create beautiful work in felt. Be inspired to use felt in your craft projects, but beware, experience shows feltmaking is very addictive!

On this workshop you will:

Session 1:
– Learn the basic skill needed to make flat felt from wool fibres
– Learn a little about the felting properties of different types of wool fibres
– Understand the wet felt making process

Session 2
– Introduce and apply elements of pattern and design using the wet method

Session 3
– Explore options for enhancing, embellishing and using your felt by adding thread, beading and/or needle felting techniques to complete your design.

There will be a materials cost of £5 payable to the tutor on the course

What to expect

Time at ArtisOn is designed to take you away from it all. We provide the environment, the time and the guidance you need to create. You can expect a warm welcome, skilled and friendly tutors and the chance to meet like-minded people keen to share ideas. There will usually be two workshops going on and we encourage everyone to mingle and be nosey about what the other workshop is up to!

We encourage you to arrive half an hour before your workshop begins. This will allow time to meet other participants over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits before beginning your session. We always have a mid-session break for refreshments and a chance to talk over progress with others. All refreshments are included.

The finish time given is a target. There are occasions when the session may overrun so do let us know if you need to be away promptly.

What you’ll need to bring with you

Please bring with you....

An old bath towel and a small towel for your hands
A plastic apron if you want to protect your clothes though we have some available.

“Excellent tutor. I struggled with the rolling due to a back problem and tutor happily helped me.”
