We meet so many people who adore gardens and plants but who would never attempt painting botanical subjects. People’s perception is usually that “botanical” painting means a highly detailed representation to very exacting standards. It can be an intimidating prospect if you’re an inexperienced painter and can also feel very restrictive if you prefer freer, more vibrant representations of the natural world.
We’re guessing that all those joining ArtisOn’s six week “Watercolour for Botanical Subjects” courses this Spring (a series of six half days), with watercolour painter, Karen Innes, would certainly not feel restricted!
Karen’s approach is to teach “wonderful ways with watercolour” – imparting the skills, techniques and confidence with watercolour as a medium, to enable participants to create more expressive, atmospheric or vivid paintings that are full of the essence of botanical life that we all love.
There are one or two places still available to join Karen’s weekly course in the Autumn here. Or a few places on her one day introductory workshop in the autumn too – click here.
