Dates: Thursday 27 Sep, 04, 11, 18, 25 Oct & 08 Nov

This advanced collagraph printmaking course is aimed at students that have previous experience of creating collagraph prints and who would now like to develop some of their ideas. During the first session, Hester will hold a group discussion with participants and design a course that will look in depth at some of the collagraph techniques that you want to explore further. This is a chance for you to troubleshoot any problems encountered outside of class, further develop your skills and create the kind of collagraphs that you really want to make. The emphasis will be on one-to-one guidance coupled with group discussion and lots of opportunities for experimentation.

This six week course assumes you have experience of collagraph printmaking but wish to develop your techniques and ideas further.

Please note there is a £10 material charge payable on the day.

What to expect

A weekly course at ArtisOn is designed to take you away from it all and provide the environment, the time and the guidance you need to create and develop your skills. The weekly format allows you to develop your work and ideas between sessions, you can work more at your own pace and really feel you have moved on from week one to the end.

You can expect the usual warm welcome, skilled and friendly tutors plus the chance to meet and get to know like-minded people keen to share ideas and experiences.

There may be two courses going on and we encourage everyone to mingle and be nosey about what the others are up to!

Arrive in time to meet other participants over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits before beginning your session at the appointed time. There will be a mid-session break for refreshments and a chance to talk over progress with others. Due to the requirement for change-overs between morning/afternoon/evening sessions for weekly courses, the finish time given is fairly crucial – the session should not overrun.

All refreshments are included before and during the session each week although lunch is not. However, by popular demand we do provide a light lunch consisting of soup or similar and a pudding from 12:00pm until just after 1:00pm so that anyone attending either morning or afternoon sessions need not go hungry! The cost is £5 and it can be booked and paid for each week for the following week. It would be helpful if you could let us know if you require lunch for week 1.

What you’ll need to bring with you

Wear clothes you don't mind getting messed up.
Feel free to bring any examples of work that inspires you or other work of your own.
A sketchbook would be handy but not essential.

“Hester is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subject.”
