An exciting six week course aimed at those with some prior experience of freehand machine embroidery. You will create a landscape in freehand machine embroidery and learn a range of techniques using fabric paint, found objects, textured fabrics and stitch, to depict either a natural landscape or an internal landscape maybe seen in dreams, memory or meditation….

You will have access to a range of background fabric, paint, thread etc. but you will need to source materials specific to your project and design.

Note there is a £15 materials charge payable to the tutor.

***YOU WILL NEED TO ENSURE YOUR MACHINE IS IN WORKING ORDER IN GOOD TIME BEFORE THE DAY – CHECK YOU HAVE ALL THE RIGHT CABLES & ANY ATTACHMENTS***

What to expect

A weekly course at ArtisOn is designed to take you away from it all and provide the environment, the time and the guidance you need to create and develop your skills. The weekly format allows you to develop your work and ideas between sessions, you can work more at your own pace and really feel you have moved on from week one to the end.

You can expect the usual warm welcome, skilled and friendly tutors plus the chance to meet and get to know like-minded people keen to share ideas and experiences.

There may be two courses going on and we encourage everyone to mingle and be nosey about what the others are up to!

Arrive in time to meet other participants over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits before beginning your session at the appointed time. There will be a mid-session break for refreshments and a chance to talk over progress with others. Due to the requirement for change-overs between morning/afternoon/evening sessions for weekly courses, the finish time given is fairly crucial – the session should not overrun.

All refreshments are included before and during the session each week although lunch is not. However, by popular demand we do provide a light lunch consisting of soup or similar and a pudding from 12:00pm until just after 1:00pm so that anyone attending either morning or afternoon sessions need not go hungry! The cost is £5 and it can be booked and paid for each week for the following week. It would be helpful if you could let us know if you require lunch for week 1.

What you’ll need to bring with you

Please bring with you any inspirational photos, books or other resources. Please also bring the following:

Your sewing machine, attachments and instruction book
Sewing scissors
Pins and needles
Quick Unpick
Assorted threads including machine embroidery threads.

A light lunch, usually homemade soup & a pud, is available on request if enough people require it. Please contact us prior to the start if you would like lunch.

A notebook for recording tips and techniques might be a good idea too.

“The tutor was very knowledgeable and gave very clear demonstrations.  I enjoyed the whole experience.”
