Create a Stunning Lantern with Knotting Techniques
Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to create a beautiful, hand-knotted lantern that shines both day and night. During the day, your intricate knotwork will be on full display – and when lit in the evening, your lantern will cast stunning shadows, showcasing your craftsmanship in a whole new light.
Under the expert guidance of artist and tutor Ness Burrows, you’ll use a variety of recycled glass jars and soft, colourful 3mm 3-ply cords (split into 1mm strands for detailed knotting). These eco-friendly cords are made from recycled fabrics and textiles, transformed into beautiful, earthy tones that bring your lantern to life. Additional materials such as boards, clips, scissors, tape measures, and optional beads for embellishment will be provided.
Ness creates a welcoming, intimate atmosphere to ensure each participant receives personal guidance and support throughout the workshop. You’ll leave not only with a one-of-a-kind lantern but also with a deep sense of pride and inspiration.
Please note this is a half day workshop and lunch is not included.
