Discover the magic of cyanotype printing on this experimental workshop exploring one of the oldest photographic printing processes. Using sunlight to create beautiful cyan-blue images, you’ll experiment with botanical forms and photographic imagery to produce a collection of unique printed artworks.
You’ll be guided through the cyanotype process, learning how to coat and prepare light-sensitive paper and arrange your chosen materials to create striking compositions. Experiment with leaves, flowers and other botanical finds alongside photographic images, exploring how light, shadow and transparency can be used to achieve different effects.
Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to play with composition, layering and contrast, discovering how the same materials can produce wonderfully different results. Whether you’re drawn to delicate botanical silhouettes or more detailed photographic prints.
Perfect for beginners, as well as those with some previous creative experience who would like to explore alternative photographic techniques, this workshop offers a chance to slow down, experiment and embrace the unexpected.
Come away with a collection of your own cyanotype prints, new creative skills and plenty of inspiration for future projects at home.
All materials and equipment will be provided including the materials needed to create your cyanotype prints.
There is an £8 materials charge for these which is payable on the day.
You will be contacted in advance regarding any photographs you wish to use so they can be prepared by the tutor onto acetate for the process.
You’re also welcome to bring along any leaves, flowers or other flat botanical materials you’d like to experiment with.
