Originally a graphic designer, Jane moved into fine art in the late 90’s.  Her inspiration is colour and her surroundings – the patterns, shapes and fall of light. She does not plan, but works quickly and intuitively in acrylics and oil pastel, building up layers, then using sgraffito techniques to scratch through to colours beneath to create mainly abstract landscapes.  Jane loves acrylics as their fast drying time allows her to work quite quickly and freely.  This imbues her work with a spontaneity and artfulness that strengthens the impact of colour and composition in her work. She is keen to share her working methods with a new workshop on her sgraffito techniques.

In addition, Jane has discovered the magic of jewellery making, and now creates stunning pieces in polymer clay. She is an enthusiastic teacher, keen to impart straightforward methods and techniques, that rely only on low cost household equipment so her techniques can easily be used at home.

“Jane is an inspirational tutor and I loved my finished articles!”
