Ella McIntosh
Ella McIntosh is a contemporary pewtersmith blending modern design with traditional craftsmanship, her work celebrates lead free pewter as a material of elegance, versatility, and enduring beauty. Based in her award-winning studio, Ella creates sculptural vessels, tableware, and bespoke commissions.
Since she established her Manchester studio in 2012, her designs have received numerous awards, recognising both technical excellence and creative originality. Her pieces have been exhibited in leading galleries and craft exhibitions across the UK including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and The Worshipful Company of Pewterers. She is a member of the Heritage Crafts Association who recently classified pewter work as an endangered craft.
In addition to her studio practice, Ella is committed to sharing her passion for pewter through workshops and skill sharing. Her teaching focuses on traditional techniques, and celebrating the joy of working with pewter – often billed as the ‘cashmere of metals’.
Whether creating one-of-a-kind art pieces or functional objects for daily use Ella is driven by a passion for design and material exploration whilst pushing the boundaries of contemporary pewtersmithing.
