Alice Fox
With a deep-rooted connection to the natural world, Alice brings a thoughtful and tactile approach to her creative practice. Her work is shaped by a background in physical geography and nature conservation, blending science and art into a process-led exploration of landscape, material, and memory.
Working with natural fibres, found objects, and materials gathered from her own allotment, Alice uses techniques like natural dyeing, stitch, weaving, and soft basketry to create richly textured surfaces and sculptural forms. Her creative process is intuitive and experimental, often beginning with a simple object found in the landscape and evolving through playful manipulation and hands-on discovery.
Based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, Alice balances studio life with teaching, exhibiting, and lecturing both nationally and internationally. Her workshops invite participants to slow down, observe closely, and connect deeply with the materials and environment around them.
