This full day workshop with Lin will show you how to make a range of Christmas wreaths and festive floral decorations. From minimal contemporary designs to sumptuous decadent displays, Lin will guide you through the process and inspire you with ideas for the festive season. This workshop is ideal for making Christmas presents – getting these skills and ideas under your belt will save you ££s!

Some material will be provided but you will need to bring a selection foliage and your choice of appropriate flowers to work with to complete the projects that Lin has lined up.

The full list of what to bring is given below – click the title to view details. Please call if you have any queries.

What to expect

Time at ArtisOn is designed to take you away from it all and provide the environment, the time and the guidance you need to create. You can expect a warm welcome, skilled and friendly tutors plus the chance to meet like-minded people keen to share ideas and experiences. You can even leave us to clear up the mess! There will usually be two workshops going on and we encourage everyone to mingle and be nosey about what the other workshop is up to.

Arrive in time to meet other participants over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits before beginning your session at the appointed time. There will be a mid-morning break for refreshments and a chance to talk over progress with others. Lunch is usually around 12:45 for about 45 mins – you can expect a homemade 2 course lunch. The main course will be delicious but don’t overdo it as the puds are usually worth waiting for! There will be a further afternoon break with the most wonderful cakes from Roots & Fruits Home Bakery, a North Yorkshire micro-bakery producing handmade bread and cakes. All food and refreshments are included in the price of the workshop.

Finish time is given as a target – there are occasions when the session may overrun so do let us know if you need to be away promptly.

We aim for your day to be a real treat… of course you could always learn a new skill in a shed or a draughty village hall with a curly sandwich, but we want you to have more fun than that! So we make it a day being looked after, with good food, good company and great inspiration!

What you’ll need to bring with you

Here is a full run down of the four projects Lin has lined up for this year's wreaths & flowers together with what you’ll need to bring.

1. The general floristry items listed you can either bring with you or buy on the day if preferred.
2. The optional items listed for each design can add colour and texture, but are not essential. For example you can make a garland as rustic or as opulent as you like by selecting items that suit you personally so, please bring whatever you would like to include in your designs - you might have you own alternative ideas to enhance your arrangements, e.g. feathers, tiny parcels etc. - ITS UP TO YOU AND WHAT YOU HAVE AVAILABLE OR WANT TO BUY.

You will need the following floristry items throughout which Lin can supply at cost, but if have them already, feel free to bring them... As there is no set materials charge for this workshop you can pay for these depending on whether you need them or not.

- paper-covered wire
- reel wire
- stub wires
- bullion wire
- stem tape
- red, gold or silver wire-edged ribbon
- sisal
- floral foam

The project you’ll go home with are listed below along with what you need to bring for each. A lot of the items are repeated so its not as bad as it looks! You don’t have to do them all but there should be time….

Note that the optional items are suggestions for adding interest, colour and texture but are not essential - so don't worry if you can't get your hands on them.

We look forward to seeing you on 1st December with a very full boot! We will have a selection of general seasonal foliage for you to use if you run out, but its best to bring your own supplies of whatever you prefer.

“Tutor was really patient, helpful and enthusiastic.  The food was fantastic and it was a great opportunity to spend the day doing something you love.”
