Karen always teaches to the needs of each individual and the stage at which they are at. She is hugely supportive and her style of teaching is always encouraging.

Karen is an excellent tutor. She is always very encouraging and listens to what we are trying to achieve or our ideas. It is no easy task to be attentive to all levels of skill and confidence. She always tries to offer us the opportunity to learn something new or support an individuals project.

Wendi New

Wendi New is an award winning artist and illustrator based in Northallerton. With over 25 years experience her practice as an artist has spanned graphics, illustration and using digital media. With a background in Natural History Illustration, graphic design and print she is deeply inspired by nature and her work includes large scale murals as well as illustration in a wide range of media.

Her love of nature drives her fascination with found and foraged materials which she uses to make much of her work, constantly trying to build more natural products into her practice.

As well as her own art practice, Wendi loves working with people and has taught and developed many community arts projects.

Friendly people, great feed, great tutor and I managed to produce a good picture!

It was excellent, I’m just starting to paint and Jason answered all my questions and puzzles.

Colin Swinton

Colin has been teaching Botanical and Landscape Watercolour painting techniques for over 30 years to both beginners and skilled students. His has also taught Celtic and Mediaeval pictorial Illumination and held workshops and summer schools all over the country. He is highly regarded for his knowledge of a wide range of styles from loose flower studies to detailed imagery.

Colin finds teaching adults, widening their awareness of the subject, tapping into their enthusiasm and seeing an expansion of their abilities and critical faculties extremely rewarding. He acknowledges an unforeseen benefit in that teaching has enhanced his own experience and knowledge of the watercolour medium in both landscape and botanical genres.

Jason Skill

Jason Skill is a watercolour painter and teacher with over thirty years of experience inspiring and teaching adults how to paint with watercolour. Jason is based in the North East and is known particularly for his seascapes. He is skilled in demonstrating and explaining a multitude of methods and approaches and approaches to this versatile medium.

He has also taught on several painting/ sketching holidays in Italy and the UK as well as demonstrating for several museums explaining to the public the painting approaches of the old masters. In the last few years he has branched out into online teaching creating a video education site called studio and has become one of SAA’s [Society of All Artists] demonstrators.
