Vicky Smith

Vicky is an experienced private chef and caterer with years of experience. As well as providing the lunches here at ArtisOn, she also caters for private events of all kinds. She specialises in cooking healthy, flavourful and delicious meals, something I’m sure any of our course goers can attest to!

Gilly Knowles

When Gilly returned to her Wensleydale roots after 20 years working in the NHS, she was able to have the time to develop her childhood love of all things crafty. Over the years she has been a regular face at ArtisOn and though she is highly skilled in many crafts, she has developed a passion for paper. Paper based crafts mean the materials are easily sourced, incredibly varied and so versatile.

Gilly’s favourite thing is to mix skills and materials to produce unique projects. She enjoys teaching groups locally in Wensleydale and passing on her passion for many types of crafting. Now Gilly is an ArtisOn regular as a tutor as well as a participant!

Sue Palin

Sue is one of the founders and directors of ArtisOn and over the years she has enjoyed making traditional Christmas wreaths with Lin Blyth, our floral arts tutor ever since we started in 2010.

When Lin planned to retire at the end of 2017, Sue was considering whether to take over the Christmas wreath making workshops herself. Lin had moved to Scarborough and her final workshop was due in December 2017 but the early snows prevented her travelling. Sue stepped into the breach and, with Christmas sherry in hand, she did wonderful job!

Sue has made over 20 wreaths every year to give as Christmas gifts or as thank you’s. She’s a dab hand at wreath making and an experienced teacher with an eye for a lush design. Join her for a wonderful half day of wreath making and by the time you’ve worked up an appetite wrestling with foliage and berries, your lunch will be ready! There might even be sherry…

Made me realise how easy and enjoyable a group session can be with good tuition!

The whole experience is great from the smiling greeting to the course, the other participants and the food.
