Carol is a textile artist based in York who specialises in free-machine embroidery, but who also uses a number of other techniques in her repertoire: felting, weaving, mixed media, painting and dyeing her own threads and fabrics and generally experimenting.
She enjoys pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved on a domestic sewing machine and likes challenges, problem-solving and trying out new ideas.
Carol exhibits as an individual and as part of larger textile groups, teaches and talks about her work and has written a book on textile jewellery: Fibredancing, and workshops and articles for magazines. Since moving to York in 2009, Carol has participated in open studios events and other exhibitions where her textiles have been exhibited alongside more mainstream art. Her textile jewellery has been exhibited in the USA with other wearable art a number of times.
